Subject:I don't know if anyone still reads this community
Posted by:v_e.
Time:4:38 pm.
Hello:
I was hoping for a little advice from those with more experience in the field then myself. I'm probably at an intermediate level as far as dancing skill goes and I have been contemplating taking my dance to the next step: from serious hobby to potential career.

I understand the "work hard" and "practice every day" aspect of this change, but I more have an issue with networking. I'll probably have to move to a larger city where there are more dancers and I can get better instruction (I've been stuck at intermediate because there are no "experts" where I live. As it is I drive an hour just to get to a beginners veil-work class). However, once my skill is at the right level I'd like to know who to talk to/what to do to get a bellydance career off the ground. Any suggestions?

Subject:News for Atlanta Area/Georgia Dancers!
Posted by:rivierajenn.
Time:11:59 am.
I've always been frustrated with the fact that there's no real central location for the Atlanta/Georgia belly dance community to find out about events, classes, shows, etc. So, I decided to create one!

Please check out the Atlanta Belly Blog. It's a work in progress, but I'm hoping this will serve a real need in our community. I'll be featuring previews, reviews and interviews with dancers, event sponsors, restaurant owners, musicians and more. To make it happen, I need your help. Send me info about your events! Do you have an upcoming show, hafla, workshop, DVD release or anything else that would be of interest to the community? I'd love to hear from you! Drop me an e-mail at genevieveraqs at comcast dot net. Feedback is also welcome.

Thanks, everyone!

Anyone know of good belly dancing classes in Athens, Georgia? Or workshops in Atlanta? Atlanta is too far for me to drive on a regular basis for classes, but if there was some kind of festival I would love to be there..

Subject:Doomsday Cabaret: Carrboro, NC, US
Posted by:smonsterbite.
Time:8:56 am.
This Sunday, August 10th, The Devoted Bellydance Collective will be presenting "Doomsday Cabaret" at The Station in downtown Carrboro for your enjoyment. The Station is located at 201-C East Main Street next to Southern Rail.

This will be an evening of mysterious bellydance. You may get to see a little bit of gypsy, tribal, cabaret, experimental, romantic, gothic. We will be bringing the joy, the pain, the light & the dark.

We don't know what the future holds. There may be no future.

So, let's dance!

1st set at 7:30 pm. The 2nd set will follow a brief intermission. THEN, please join us in dance revelry!

This is an experiment & if the people want it, we will keep on bringing it. In September we will return to the 3rd Sunday of the month. Set times stay the same.

One other thing that stays the same....on Doomsday at the Cabaret, we WILL be dancing. We hope you join us.

Subject:Restaurant Dancing & Body Tipping?
Posted by:rachelute.
Time:3:56 am.
Ladies - I wanted to pop in here and ask a question - what do you all think of body-tipping?

Although I've done plenty of shows in restaurants, I'm going to be doing my first REAL restaurant performance this weekend, and I didn't think I had a problem with it until just recently...I got to thinking, what other dancer takes tips in their belts?  None, that I can think of  - other than a stripper...  not to mention that I'm going to be wearing a rather tighter costume - I'm a secondary dancer, so I'm wearing a skirt with a hipscarf...

Any thoughts/feelings?
